My 50km weekend

As part of the MS Society's May 50 km event, I am planning to do a 50 km weekend - running and walking 50 km over 18 and 19 May.


My experiences with MS started with my mum, who lived with MS for most of her life, and had very severe disease by the time she passed away in 2022. To be honest, that's more than enough experience of MS for anyone, but I am now seeing things from mum's perspective after I was diagnosed with the disease in January of this year. 

Times have changed since my mother's diagnosis, and the range of disease-modifying treatments is much wider, but much more research is needed to improve outcomes for those living with the disease. Money raised by the MS Society contributes to this research, and also helps to support people living with MS in making the best decisions for their health. I hope that money raised through this event will go a little way to making some lives a little brighter.

My Updates

18 May morning run

I've kicked off my weekend with a good 19km lap of St Neots, including a short walk to take Rian to football club, followed by an 18 kilometer run. 

I was very pleased to see that today has perfect running weather as far as I'm concerned - completely overcast, slightly chilly and a misty rain.

This was very much a morning of two halves - in part 1, I thought about about MS, 50km, all my amazing sponsors and strategy for the weekend. In part 2, I thought about lunch 🥪🥚🥞🌮🍏🍅🥝

Hi Charlotte, I remember having the honour of being your French teacher during your time at CHS. You were a superstar then just as you are amazing now! I also had the honour of meeting your Mum & Dad at parent-teacher meeting. Your Mum told me once that she stayed in the car until the very last minute so she could listen to The Archers 😂. MS is horrible . I was so sorry to hear of your Mum’s passing. Best wishes to you on your own journey. I know that you will work hard to keep up your PMA.
