THE MAY 50K GENERAL TERMS & CONDITIONS

This section sets out the terms that apply to your participation in The May 50K and use of www.themay50k.co.uk website. Your continued use of our website indicates to the MS International Federation and the MS Society UK that you agree with these General Terms. We may change these General Terms from time to time, so please check back regularly.

What you can expect from us

The following terms and conditions have been written to ensure that the MS International Federation and the MS Society UK can support their fundraisers in the best possible way, whilst raising as much as possible to fund their work. If you have any questions about the event, please don’t hesitate to email global@TheMay50K.org or events@mssociety.org.uk.

As an event participant fundraising in aid of the MS International Federation and the MS Society UK, you can expect the following from us:

1.1. Our support, guidance and expertise.

1.2. If requested, provide written support to validate the authenticity of the event and its organisers.

1.3. Be transparent about where your fundraising goes and how it is used.

1.4. Provide expert knowledge and support around the event you are participating in or organising, wherever possible.

1.5. Enable you to create a personal web page about your event on our fundraising platform or our website. This web page will not only help you promote your event, but also allow people to make contributions that will be automatically credited to your event.

1.6. Promote The May 50K on the MS International Federation and the MS Society UK social media pages, where possible.

1.7. Provide existing marketing materials and information (where available).

1.8. Provide an event medal and t-shirt (where appropriate).

1.9. Manage and protect your data in line with UK GDPR regulations.

The May 50K (for UK participants registered through www.may50k.co.uk)

2.1. The MS International Federation and the MS Society UK - In 2024 MS International Federation is partnering with the MS Society UK to deliver The May 50K in the UK. MS Society UK and the MS International Federation will share the income from the UK part of the campaign, with 70% for MS Society UK projects and 30% going to international projects led by the MS International Federation.

2.2. Data access - The MS International Federation and the MS Society UK will both have access to your data for the purpose of delivering and managing The May 50K. Data sharing is managed securely, in line with UK privacy laws.

2.3. Permission to contact you about The May 50K – By signing up to The May 50K you agree that the MS International Federation and the MS Society UK can contact you for purposes relating to participation in The May 50K.

2.4. Permission to contact you about fundraising opportunities – You can also opt in to receive other communications about fundraising from the MS International Federation and the MS Society UK. You can unsubscribe at any time.

2.5. Content created by The May 50K – The MS International Federation and MS Research Australia owns or licences from third parties all of the trademarks, copyright and other intellectual property that exists in our website. You must not copy or reproduce in any form any of the graphics, logos or other material on our website unless you have our specific permission. For the avoidance of doubt, you have our permission to download material from the Downloads page on our website.

2.6. Content posted by you – Any content that you post to our website (e.g. photos and videos) is your responsibility, and you must make sure that you have the necessary rights to post that content (e.g. by obtaining permission of copyright owners if necessary).

2.7. Keeping our website safe – We need your help to keep our website safe. Therefore, you must adhere to the following: a. You must not collect user’s content using automated means a. You must not upload viruses or other malicious code b. You must not bully, intimidate or harass anyone c. You must not post any content that infringes or violates someone else’s rights, or otherwise violates the law, or that is hateful, threatening, pornographic or violent.

2.8. MS International Federation and MS Society UK disclaimer – we take great care with our website and we endeavour to keep it accurate, error-free and free of any offensive material. However, you use the site at your own risk and the MS International Federation and MS Society UK will not be liable for any costs or losses you incur through your use of our website. Whilst we may include on our website links to third party websites or resources, MS International Federation and MS Society UK are not responsible for such third parties and you use those websites or resources at your own risk.

2.9. Refunds Policy for Donations – we are happy to refund your donation if you have made it in error. If you wish to request a refund then please contact us using the contact details in the Contact Us section of the website.

2.10. Privacy statement –The MS International Federation and MS Society UK are committed to respecting and protecting your privacy. We have structured our website so that, in general, you can visit our website without identifying yourself or revealing any personal information. Once you choose to provide us personally identifiable information (any information by which you can be identified), you can be assured that it will only be used to support your contact/client relationship with the MS International Federation and the MS Society.

The main purpose for collecting your personal information is to enable us to provide our services and tailor our communications with you and to continuously improve our relationship with you. Please refer to the MS International Federation Privacy Policy and the MS Society UK Privacy Policy.

2.11. MS International Federation and MS Society UK’s rights – We may remove any content posted by you, or prevent access by you to our website if you do not comply with these General Terms.

2.12. Incentives – a The May 50K technical t-shirt will be sent out to any participants who receive £1 or more on their The May 50K fundraising page. Donations must be received by 1st June 2024 to qualify. Any participant of The May 50K who receives £250 or more by 1st June 2024 will also receive a The May 50K medal. Incentives will only be posted to a UK postal address.

2.13. Age restrictions - People of all ages are eligible to take part in The May 50K, but children under the age of 18 (by 1 May 2024) must be part of a team and participate with a parent or guardian.

Your fundraising

As an event participant fundraising in aid of the MS International Federation and the MS Society UK, you agree to the following:

3.1. Fundraising: Only to use lawful means to fundraise for MS International Federation and the MS Society UK and not to bring the charity's names into disrepute.

3.2. Images and audio: Any images, video, audio or quotes taken on the event day or at any other occasion relating to your event, may be used by the MS International Federation or the MS Society UK to promote future events. If you do not wish your photos, video, audio or quotes to be used you must inform us in writing at: Global@TheMay50K.org or events@mssociety.org.uk.

3.3. Injury: You must ensure that you are medically fit to participate in your chosen event. You take part in your chosen event at your own risk, the MS International Federation and the MS Society UK will not be held responsible for injury or illness resulting from participation in an event.

3.4. Event organiser terms and conditions: If you take part in any third party events as part of your fundraising for The May 50K it is your responsibility to read and comply with all terms and conditions issued by the event organiser. The MS International Federation and the MS Society UK is not liable for any loss or injury caused by your participation in a third party event.
