I'm moving 150 kms this May to leave MS behind

Support my challenge to leave MS behind!

I’m taking part in The May 50K. I will be taking on 50km throughout May and leaving my limits behind to raise funds for life-changing research into multiple sclerosis and better access to treatments!

There are over 150,000 people in the UK living with MS and I need your help to leave MS where it belongs, behind us.

You can now support this work in the UK and around the World because The May 50K supports the MS Society UK and the MS International Federation. I’ve accepted the challenge to change lives.

Please make a donation to support my challenge.

Thank you so much!

My Updates

Day 31

Last day, back where we started in Edinburgh. On our way up to the Scottish Dee so quick stopover with my wonderful Mum

Day 29

Lovely walk in beautiful dappled shade through Oakley Woods with Will, friends and the dog. Walked pretty fast for me and talked so much, forgot to take a picture until we got home!

Day 28

I’m too hot to go anywhere or do anything, totally exhausted. But managed to go to the gym in the morning and walk the dog late at night, Pic shows Will pretending to be a PT

DAY 26

Too muggy and hot to be outside, or to do much indoors either. However lots of laughs today when a friend came over to show me how to do Thai Chi walking, so much fun. Think I’ll make this a regular daily exercise as only takes 9 minutes. Plus the constant movements and stretches felt good. Afterwards went shopping with youngest daughter. Big plug for Bravisimo, they have the best, most fantastically powerful air conditioning!!!

Day 21

So much walking recently has been causing a bit of pain in my hips, so easing off leg work today, concentrating on arms and stretching.

Day 20

A little colder than yesterday, but straight out in the morning to have a PT session as eating out every night has to be paid for! After a nap, feel energised enough to go out with Will and the dog to Diamond Jubilee Wood in Warwick

Day 18

Last night in this gorgeous city, sat in a roof-top restaurant (which we walked to naturally)

Day 17

On a high from yesterday’s achievement and with even more to see, managed a staggering 9.8 Kilometres. Not sure from this photo (taken in a bonkers bar), who is actually staggering the most… but as I dont drink, it certainly isn’t me!!!

Day 16

The most walking I have done in years! An incredible City seen with great friends/personal tour guides! Who knew that chatting and so much laughter could equate to 10.1 kilometres! Going back to the apartment for over an hour of afternoon sleep meant I wasn’t exhausted and managed to continue into the night, perfect.

Day 15

Seville! Fairly long day travelling with friends to this amazing city, with a lot of walking, most of it, it has to be said, in an airport! However here we are in the Sky bar next to the apartment with a fabulous view of the Cathedral

Day 14

What an exciting day! So exciting in fact that I spent a lot of time tracking the whereabouts of the latest visitor to our house - a Pea Hen! The most extraordinary creature, who came right up to the back door. Didn’t stop my exercise though, I walked into Warwick, went for another training session with Jack at Nuffield and must’ve spent a lot more energy than I realised going up and down stairs looking out of windows watching her!

Day 12

Short morning walk back in Warwick followed by gruelling gym session with our wonderful trainer Jack, then shortish evening walk with Beck the dog.
Jack our PT seen putting me through my paces doing ‘sled’ basically using the treadmill with resistance, blooming hard work!

Day 9

And relax….!
Last day in Helmsdale, Sutherland - mostly spent packing, clearing, cooking leftovers… exhausted!

Day 7

Shouting above the wind (scaring the deer) and walking with a friend, we made it up to the beginning of Kinbrace lake without Julia losing her hat!

Day 6

Thanks to friends, got a lift up to the trout lake, then walked back to the Lodge. No letting up by the wind, but as it was behind me most of the way, it felt a bit like cheating!

Day 5

Windy walk, stunning scenery, Will by my side, who could ask for more?

Day 4. Not as simple…

I couldn’t cross a cattle grid across Helmsdale river, as not enough balance to do that. The pedestrian gate next to it jammed shut so couldn’t open that. Hmmm… walked round Borobol Lodge where we’re staying instead and managed 4km, Whoop whoop!

Day 3 near Perth

Friends and Will walking with me today

Day 2 Portobello, Edinburgh

My amazing 92 year old mum helping at the start
