Support my challenge to leave MS behind!

I’m taking part in The May 50K. I will be taking on 50km throughout May and leaving my limits behind to raise funds for life-changing research into multiple sclerosis and better access to treatments!

There are over 130,000 people in the UK living with MS and I need your help to leave MS where it belongs, behind us.

You can now support this work in the UK and around the World because The May 50K supports the MS Society UK and the MS International Federation. I’ve accepted the challenge to change lives.

Please make a donation to support my challenge.

Thank you so much!

My Updates

Day 31. Challenge complete

DAY 31: Challenge complete!! A run every single day for the whole of May, beating my target and covering a total of 158km and over £1000 in sponsorship. A massive THANK YOU to all my friends, family and colleagues who stepped up and helped out with sponsorship, support, and even those crazy fools who ran alongside me. No for a rest and a hot bath I think 😅

Day 30 (second photo)

The prize at the end of today's run was a nice train journey home. Oh, and a posh coffee to go with it ❤️

Day 30. 150km completed!!

Big steady run today on the canals to Birmingham. The route was fun at points, challenging at points, and downright dangerous at points. Train journey home was a lot quicker than the run!

Day 29

Good run on the canals today. Lovely weather. Managed to record a thank you video for my supporters on Facebook and Instagram, hop over to @run_with_ian on Instagram if you can to check it out 🙂

Day 28 125km completed

Day 27. Short run before family trip to the zoo

Let's go 🦒

Day 26

6+ miles with Baz & Jules around Walsall Arboretum 😇

Day 25 110km complete

Day 24 selfie in the car afterwards 😅

109KM covered so far!!

Day 24 Walsall Parkrun

Fun time today at Walsall Parkrun with a good friend of mine- Jules. Over 530 runners today meaning it was a very busy run, especially at the start! but managed to get into my stride and came in with a very respectable time (for me at least!)

Day 23

100k target beaten and still going strong. Massive thanks to everyone who has supported my journey so far, you have absolutely smashed the target goal as well!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Day 22

Day 20

Day 19

Day 18

Decided to go around Walsall Arboretum today, beautiful day for it but a crazy busy day here at the park so spending all my time dodging out of the way of everybody else and their dogs. 😅 Lovely day though and brings my total to 83km!

Day 17

Another 10k today running round Sutton Park with Jules. Really fun chilled run in the fresh morning air (photo taken afterwards)

Day 16

67km total so far.

Day 15

Early morning run today

Day 14 | 64km total

Running total 64km Fundraising total - absolutely smashed!!! Thank you all so much for your support. We have made a massive difference to The MS Society already; you are amazing!!! Thank you so much for your support. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Day 13

Up running with the sunrise today thanks to the cat deciding 4am was enough sleep 😭 Really enjoyed getting out with the fresh air and starting the day strong.

Day 12

Slow and achy today after yesterday's big run, still managed to get out though and put some distance on the total. Looking good for beating the 100k at the moment. Let's see how much we can do!

Day 11. Shifnal 10K

Day 11. running the Shifnal 10K today. Brilliant event!!!! 500 runners and a great turnout for the town. The atmosphere was electric!! Massive thank you to all the organisers and volunteers! Managed to get a new 10k PB, and beat last year's time by 5 minutes! Well chuffed!!! Chip Time: 58 minutes 47 seconds. properly exhausted now so off for a soak!

Day 10

Short jog up the hill and back before a busy day ahead. Keeping the muscles loose for tomorrow's bigger effort. Gorgeous sunshine today! Keep well everyone.

Day 9

Day 8

out with the morning birdies today. steady after yesterday's effort. I've got to remember that I'm doing this everyday for the month and not to overdo it early. Progress so far is on track. 😇

Day 7

first go at intervals to increase my overall speed. really enjoyed it even if it nearly killed me 😅 living by the motto "One day you won't be able to do it, but THAT'S NOT TODAY!" 😉 LETS DO THIS!

Day 6

Day 6. Slow and steady, feeling bloated today and tired but getting out there. Running total so far is 32km. Let's do this!!

Day 5

Steady run at the gym today after a lovely family walk around the water park. Slow and steady is the key at the moment, still a lot of days to go!

Day 4

Very early start today as the cat had me up at 5am. Gym was great, not too busy and plenty of space so not feeling too overcrowded. Today's run was slow and steady, I'm very conscious I still have A LOT of days left and don't want to overdo it yet 😅 Making good progress with the distance. Planning a slow long jog tomorrow then I've got a 10k event on Sunday which I'm really looking forward to. Great work to all my fellow 50k in May people; absolutely smashing it!!!

Day 3

Running at Sandwell Valley with running legend Jules! A constant source of inspiration and motivation! Thank you for the support good sir! We did a few miles warm up then the Parkrun itself. Weather was brilliant and the atmosphere was fantastic as always at Sandwell Parkrun! Thank you to all the helpers and volunteers 😇

Day 2.

Second run done, went to the gym to enjoy the Aircon away from the outside heat. Plan worked well but still ended up a sweaty mess, not a pretty runner today but getting the distance done. Let's keep it going!

Let's get it started!

And they're off! Here we go, raising money for The MS Society, a charity close to my heart. Those taking part are invited to complete 50, 100, or 150K for the MS Society. I'm setting myself the challenge of 100K which is over double my normal monthly distance. let's do this! thank you everyone for your support and kind words. First run went well. Lovely cool summer morning with geese on the canal and a fresh breeze. 5km down, 95 to go.

Thank you for all the support!

A massive thank you to everyone who has shared this challenge, and to everyone who has sponsored me already, thank you so much for the generous support!
MS Society is match funding all donations until April 27th so you have made double the impact already!!

I am continuing my training plan at the moment, keeping things steady so I can really hit he ground running on May 1st.

100K in May -here we go!!

Let's get this started

Ok, so it's not yet May, and I've not even put a single mile on the road, so why get started with the fundraising?
The MS Society has currently got Match funding for donations until April 27th so any money raised before April 27th will go twice as far.
Donate in May and you'll make a big difference to people's lives, donate now and you will automatically make double the difference just by bearing early.
It'll also be the motivation I need to get me going on this challenge.
Can you donate to help the MS society?
Let's do it.

Thank you to my Sponsors
