My Progress

I'm walking 50 kms this month to leave MS behind

Support my challenge to leave MS behind!

I’m taking part in The May 50K!

I was diagnosed with MS in June 2022, and, thankfully, my symptoms are pretty non-existant. However, I know that could change at any moment, and for some people, their lives have altered completely because of this condition.

I will be taking on 50km throughout May and leaving my limits behind to raise funds for life-changing research into multiple sclerosis and better access to treatments!

There are over 130,000 people in the UK living with MS and I need your help to leave MS where it belongs, behind us.

You can now support this work in the UK and around the World because The May 50K supports the MS Society UK and the MS International Federation. I’ve accepted the challenge to change lives.

Please make a donation to support my challenge.

Thank you so much!

My Updates

Done!

Well, that's it all over for another year. I'm so happy to have gone over my target and raised over £500 for MS charities.
But unfortunately, while the May 50K is over, for people living with MS, it's never over.
Thankfully I'm still fit and healthy, but for some, their lives have been changed forever.
Hopefully the money raised will continue to help find a cure.
Thanks to everyone who has donated and supported me.
🧡🧡

Day 28

Another beautiful sunny day, and I met a friend in the stunning Belmont Woods in Meigle for a lovely walk to the Meigle Faerie Tree. Two years ago I was commissioned to create a faerie installation, and write a poem, both of which are now included on a forest trail!

Day 24

I didn't do a proper 'walk' yesterday or today, but I've calculated my actual steps over the last two days, and I covered 6kms in total!

Day 22

A lovely walk to the beautiful Dawson Park with my friend this morning, followed by a quick coffee and chat, then thr walk home!
5kms today - woohoo!!

Day 19

A lovely walk down at the beach again today. The sun hadn't quite burned the clouds away, but it was still warm.
Another 2.5kms added

Day 17

Too hot to do much today, so opted for just a quick walk to Aldi and back!
Still 2.5kms!!

Day 16

Today, after a hospital appointment, I went for a quick walk around the beautiful Balgay Cemetery. With stunning views actoss the Tay, and some of the best monkey puzzle trees I've seen, the cemetery is home to some very old and ornate gravestones.
It's also home to Dundee's very own observatory!

Day 15

Went to meet a friend for coffee today - a 6.9km round trip!
That's me over my target, but will keep going...!!

Day 14

Wow, my longest walk so far - 7kms!!
It's absolutely glorious again here in sunny Dundee, but it was slightly overcast at 9am, so I thought it would be a perfect day to wallk across the Tay Road Bridge and back! The bridge is approx 1.4miles long, so as the clouds disappeared and the heat of the sun grew stronger,  I realised my thick jacket, no sunglasses and lack of water was a huge mistake!! 🤣
Thankfully, the  breeze coming up the Tay helped to keep me cool, and the coffee and pastel de nata at the fabulous Dundee Cycle Hub Cafe was delicious!

Day 13

Another stunning day here in Dundee! The sun is shining, and I just spend a glorious hour sitting in the beautiful Nature Reserve (after a good walk, obviously!!)
My Fitbit only recorded half my walk, and didn't save the route  😒
Another manual log for today

Day 12

I had a wee break over the weekend (I say break, but I did do over 33,000 steps, and painted the decking!), but was back on it today!
Slightly overcast here in Dundee this morning, but still had a lovely walk along the Riverside again, and clocked another 3.5kms!

Day eight

A different 'walk' for me today - 4.5 hours of power-washing the decking in my back garden!! But every little helps, as they say, so over 7000 steps and just over 5kms!!
I'm exhausted now!!

Day seven

What a gorgeous walk today along the River Tay! Along to the rail bridge, then back down to the Discovery and the V&A. Even on a slightly cloudy day it looks amazing.
My Fitbit didn't record the map for some reason, but it did log the 3.91kms - yay!

Day six

A short, late walk this evening, but still managed to see some lovely wildlife - a beautiful swan on Dighty Burn

Day five

A very different sort of walk today - a double shop round Aldi and Asda!!!
My Fitbit obviously got confused, and recorded something completely ridiculous,  but thankfully my phone captured my steps!
Been very active in the garden all afternoon, so in total, 3.36kms!

Day four

Quite a long walk for me today - nearly 6kms! Although my Fitbit stopped logging my walk too early for some reason. Thankfully managed to work out the full route.
It was a lovely, sunny day again but OMG was the wind cold?!! Glad I took my hat.
My MS doesn't rear its ugly head much at all (thank God), but I am feeling a little weary today, and my hips are aching from all the walking so far - I'm getting old, and like Shakira said, my hips don't lie!! ;)

Day three

A gorgeous walk around a blossom-filled graveyard. Just under 3kms!

Day two part 3

Walked home from the pub!! Bloody freezing!!

Day two part 2

Walked to the pub!

Day two

Almost 3kms done today. Not quite so warm and sunny today, but I loved seeing the gorgeous cherry tree blossoms in Dawson Park.

Day one!!

First walk today - just under 4kms, which is great! It's a lovely morning here in Dundee - not as warm as yesterday, but still great walking weather.
I walked along the River Tay from West Ferry towards Dundee, and had a wee go on the exercise bike on the way back 😊🧡🌞

Here we go again!

Yep, I'm doing it again! I'll be trying to walk as many miles as I can during May.
Thanks to everyone who has sponsored me so far 🧡
