Support my challenge to leave MS behind!

I’m taking part in The May 50K. I will be taking on 50km throughout May and leaving my limits behind to raise funds for life-changing research into multiple sclerosis and better access to treatments!

There are over 130,000 people in the UK living with MS and I need your help to leave MS where it belongs, behind us.

You can now support this work in the UK and around the World because The May 50K supports the MS Society UK and the MS International Federation. I’ve accepted the challenge to change lives.

Please make a donation to support my challenge.

Thank you so much!

My Updates

Random 53km

So the observant amongst you may see an input for 53km today- don’t worry I didn’t kill myself to do that in one go….. but I totalled all the little strolls or day to day activities that I didn’t log over the last month and turns out I actually doubled my 50km. 109.9km in total. So as I’ll be travelling home from our week in the lakes tomorrow… today my ms walk is a wrap! Now pass me the prosecco 🍾

Evening stroll

Whilst the girl swam I decided to find a fallen castle with a friend….. it was much closer than anticipated so a walk to the beach followed. A short pit stop for half a lager and a short stroll back for a bbq added another 3k to the total.

Gruffalo trail

A trip to Grizedale forest meant the chance to do a little  trail so we followed the gruffalo trail which added a nice little 2.6km to my total.

Final 5km

Not expecting to complete today just mooching around the holiday site with friends…, but I hit 5km so I’ll log it but I’ll head out to do another tomorrow to get a final tshirt pic…. Keep the donations coming.

Walk & Talk

So this morning started with a PML Check MRI Scan so on my way home I decided to stop for an impromptu walk around Westport lake. Having done a lap I wasn’t really feeling it but forced myself to go again and took the canal route, whilst thinking I should’ve gone home for food 😉 however as I joined the path back around the lake I literally bumped into a friend who’s actually doing a 100mile charity walk for a mental health charity! He rocks 💪
So he changed direction and we walked and talked, caught up on life, put the worlds to rights, shared stories about our kids, footy teams (how we met) mental health, MS and so much more. It really is good to walk and talk and before I knew it we had done another three laps and I clocked up 6.1 km plus my walk through the hospital and I’ve a healthy 6.8km today. Thank you Dan.

Tournament day

So today saw the second and final tournament for the Staffs Junior youth league and I’ve had to rest a couple of days knowing it would be another busy one….. nearly 6km logged today. I will ache tomorrow!! Thank you to all my sponsors so far. Truly humbled.

Cup final

Having had infusion a couple of days ago I’ve been resting but knowing I had a cup final to help out with this evening I knew I’d definitely get a few steps in…, 4.8km worth. The season is closing soon but one more championship day and one more final… footy alone could probably help me reach my target. But a week in the lakes later this month will be much more scenic….

Tournament Day

So today I helped to run our league championship day. Floating from pitch to pitch saw me log almost 5km. Beautiful day watching u7 and u11 playing some beautiful football. Cheers of delight, tears of frustration heard. All part of the journey of life and football. Enjoyed every second.

Walk & Talk

After posting in a group that anyone was welcome to join me for a stroll, a friend took me up on it this morning and we walked and talked and before we knew it I’d clocked another 5k off my total.
Beautiful scenery, great conversation, great company. Free therapy 😉

Two short strolls

Wasn’t sure I’d get chance for a decent walk today so spied my chances where I could. Having a hospital appointment in the middle of the day usually means driving round the car park for half an hour but nope straight into a space so time to follow the take a walk arrows…. Great until they just stopped dead somewhere. I found my way back with time to spare. Then a visit to my mum’s grave as it’s two years today since she grew her wings…. Such beautiful surroundings and beautiful clear skies and I decided to stroll around the site and take in the scenery the peace and remember her. 3.5k done over the two walks….

First 3k in the bag

So today the challenge began and in 24 degree heat I dragged myself to our local park and enjoyed the scenery! The chicks and ducks out on the water… the birds chirping away. Hardly a cloud in the sky. If the weather stays like this then this will be a breeze. Although note to self to try to get out earlier in the day.,,,,
Another day tomorrow and hopefully a different park,,,, watch this space.

Preparing for May 50k

It’s been a tough few months, losing my dad, relationship breakdown, MS flares, cancer scares, it’s all taken its toll. My weight has rocketed, my energy levels depleted but with only a few weeks to go it’s time to get head in the game. Back to healthier choices, better sleep patterns (hopefully) ready to embrace the challenge ahead.
Most importantly (ok maybe not- but they look good) my nails are ready for the challenge too. Check out the gallery!
I’d love to beat last years raised funds but I know money is tight this year…. If you can support be by donating even just a £1 each I’d be so grateful. Let’s find a cure and leave MS behind. 💪 we got this!
