Support my challenge to leave MS behind!

I’m taking part in The May 50K. I will be taking on 50km throughout May and leaving my limits behind to raise funds for life-changing research into multiple sclerosis and better access to treatments!

There are over 130,000 people in the UK living with MS and I need your help to leave MS where it belongs, behind us.

You can now support this work in the UK and around the World because The May 50K supports the MS Society UK and the MS International Federation. I’ve accepted the challenge to change lives.

Please make a donation to support my challenge.

Thank you so much!

My Updates

My walk route around New Eltham

Sporting the t-shirt

Only 5km to go until I reach my 100km target ☺️

Local walk with MS society T-shirt

Last week the weather was rubbish and I was also trying to sort out buying a car (such faff!) The sun finally came out on Friday and so I got out for a nice stroll. It was really fun and my tech was up and running properly so I could track my route. I’ve really enjoyed doing these walks, they’ve got me out and about, helped me reflect on things, and helped my mental health, in addition to raising funds for the MS society.
We’re planning on a nice long walk tomorrow for one of the last of this challenge ☺️

Local park walk 17/05

Beautiful weather today. Really enjoyed the walk in the Tarn, where this was taken :)

Another local walk

Last Friday 17th May, I did another beautiful local walk. The weather is really improving now and I’m very much enjoying the sunshine, listening to music, putting on my walking clothes and working up a sweat. I’m not a massive fan of exercise, and I’m not fit at all, so these walks have definitely pushed my a bit. I’m really enjoying them, enjoying being outside, and I think they’re helping my general mood and mental health. I loved the Tarn on this day, the flowers were bright and vibrant. It was a wonderful walk.

Central London walk

So when I’d finally got my life in order after my bag being stolen, I took some more strolls, one of particular note was around central London - lots of walking around Charing Cross and Tottenham Court Road, China Town and the National Portrait Gallery with my lovely friend from Belfast before we hit the theatre to see Spirited Away. It was an epic day ☺️

Walk in the local area

The walk I did on the 8th May was beautiful - the sun was shining and I took loads of photos. I walked around my local area including the nature reserve The Tarn, Avery Hill Park and Southwood Road park. That evening annoyingly my bag was stolen so I lost most of my photos! But I have one of some of the goslings I sent to Max I will post. ☺️These walks are calming and helping me to reflect - with my busy life at the moment I don’t often get much reflection time.

St. Cyrus

Nearly finished our walk before I jumped on the train back to Edi and then London. Scotland I’ll miss you!!

A sea stroll

Today my lovely university friend Lizzy took me on a seaside stroll in St Cyrus, just across the border into Aberdeenshire. We walked the length of the beach towards the caves, ate the delicious sandwiches Lizzy had made and then walked back sharpish as the tide started coming in. It was a beautiful calm day and we could see out for miles to the horizon. Definitely recommend walking at this beautiful nature reserve, it reminded me a lot of Senegal.

St Giles Cathedral

We popped in here on our walk down the royal mile. Such beautiful stained glass!

A walk around Edinburgh

Yesterday, I walked around Edinburgh, from Waverley to Dishoom, up to the castle, down the Royal Mile and into St Giles Cathedral and back, around the Queen Street Gardens, total 8km, with an old school friend. It was lovely to explore the city more and finished with a cheeky cider, yum.

Edinburgh 18km walk - finish line

A very tired and hot hiker, I finished back at Fettes where I started, in need of food and a shower!

Arthur’s Seat

I walked the 18km from Fettes College, across Edinburgh to Holyrood Park and up to Arthur’s seat and back. This is me at the top, with a victory cheer!

Walk up to Arthur’s seat

Hey everyone,
Today I walked from Fettes College to Arthur’s Seat - right to the top. I’m going to be honest, it was really bloody hard. I got to the bottom of the summit and looked up. I really didn’t think I could do it. I’m unfit - I sit down for most of the day and drive to places to get through my busy schedule each day. But I put my mind to it. I stopped many times on the way up, but I was so encouraged by the other people who kept going, so despite how slippery (thank you Haar!) and steep it was in places, I kept going. I was rewarded at the top by the spectacular views!! I could see the sea, the whole city, the route I walked, and Fettes. It was a great feeling. I’m really happy I did it. For anyone who visits Edinburgh, do it, take a good couple of hours, wear walking shoes, bring a big bottle of water and snacks and enjoy. It’s well worth it.
4 miles from Fettes to base of Arthur’s seat, 3 miles to the top and back, 4 miles back - x1.6= 17.6km.
All for the MS Society. If this resonates with you, please donate to our cause. Sending you loads of love xxxxx

Our first walk - 1st May

Yesterday, we followed the route of my regular circular walk around the area to kick start the May50K, kitted out with our sports gear, enjoying the doggies and birdsong, and passing through our local parks.
MS is a disease that has affected the lives of my dear mum (Genie) my auntie (Noona Marina) and a dear friend who sadly passed 10 years ago (Lorraine). It is such a difficult disease and one of the most tricky things besides the day-to-day struggles is with age, it gets worse. There currently aren’t cures or ways to reverse the disease. Only pain alleviation and ways to try to slow down the progression, but even then current treatment options aren’t great. My hope is there will be a cure in my lifetime, a way to help MS sufferers have some hope of living MS free and enjoying a more independent and pain free lifestyle.
This cause is very close to my heart, and we will be walking as much throughout the month of May to support it. Lots of love to you all xxxxx
